Thelma Barnes Sowell Learning and Tennis Center

McBee, South Carolina

Client: TBS Learning and Tennis Center

Location: McBee, South Carolina

Square feet: 12,000

The Thelma Barnes Sowell Learning and Tennis Center’s Founder and board members entrusted MOA Architecture, Inc. with developing the conceptual vision for their new educational leadership facility soon to be located in McBee, SC.

The center will be a learning and athletic center for kids and adults alike, and it will stand in honor to the facility’s namesake who is the mother of the center’s founder and CEO, Pat Harris.  Pat credits her mother with instilling in her the values of fairness and equality, which have guided her throughout her life. She wants to pass these lessons on to all who enter the center.

The large inviting circular entrance embraces everyone and announces the new facility as a beacon in the community. The center will supply much-needed amenities, such as classrooms, a library, a fitness room, and multipurpose spaces for the neighborhood and surrounding areas. The exterior features tennis courts, basketball courts, and additional green space for safe outdoor gatherings. Be on the lookout for construction to start soon.
